After losing her mom from an accident, Tohru Honda came to live with the Sohma family Trio (Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure). What she thought was a normal prince-like happy family, was actually just a facade to hide the deep secrets of the Sohma clan.

Her usual clumsiness revealed the thousand year curse of the Sohma’s, where 12 members of the clan, when hugged by the opposite sex, will transform into one of the Chinese Zodiac animals. Now it is up to Tohru to keep the secret as well as heal the pain of each one in her own way.

At a young age, when Ryoji (Yamada Takayuki) finds out that the object of his father’s perversion is his first love, Yukiho (Ayase Haruka), he kills him. Yukiho’s mother was forced to do so to relieve their economic crisis. As a payback, Yukiho stages a suicide for her mom. They decide to separate in order to not get caught for those past incidents, but they are always driven towards each other in the world of crimes.

Troublemaker Natsumi (Takeuchi Yuko) becomes kindhearted whenever she eats some of the delicious omurice made by the "Kitchen Macaroni" family (Eguchi Yosuke, Tsumabuki Satoshi, Yamashita Tomohisa, Yamada Takayuki, & Ito Misaki).
