Liar Game

Ame to Yume no Ato Ni

It is based on a book about Sakurai Tomoharu (Sawamura Ikki) who fell off a ravine when trying to catch a rare "phantom butterfly". Not expecting to die so early, Tomoharu couldn’t leave his daughter Ame (Kurokawa Tomoka) by herself. Thus, he comes back home immediately as if nothing has happened except for the fact that now he’s a ghost.

For hundreds of years, the same group of children have been seen numerous times in photographs and paintings. They seem to not have aged all this time and act more like adults.

One day an orphan, Helga, escapes from her orphanage and passes by Toma, a talented young man who helps her escape by hiding her at his house. Though she is caught, he becomes curious and tries to find out more. He is shown some strange drawings done by Helga since she was young: those of the fantastic children. Does she know who they are and is Helga in any way related to them?
